Informationen und Hinweise zur Beantragung eines E-Visums (E-Visa)

(For English, please scroll down)

Information and advice on e-Visa application

  1. ALL visa applications must be submitted through https://thaievisa.go.th/ (e-Visa website) ONLY. The Royal Thai Consulate General in Frankfurt does NOT accept hard copies of visa applications, either by post or in-person at the Consulate.

  2. The e-Visa applicants may submit the application as early as 90 days before the date of arrival in Thailand. Once the application is made, visa fees shall not be returned under any circumstances.

  3. The e-Visa applicants are advised to use an email account that does not contain “-“ (the hyphen) in creating an e-Visa application account on the e-Visa website such as @gmail.com, @outlook.com, and @hotmail.com. “[email protected]” is an example of an email account that contains “-“, and thus should not be used in the online e-Visa application.

  4. In the e-Visa website, please fill in all information in the English languageThe automatic translation function in the web browser should not be used.

  5. The e-Visa applicants must color scan the bio-data page of their passportsnational ID card, and proof of legal residence in Germany, and upload all the mentioned documents into the e-Visa account. Applicants of non-EU citizenship must upload both sides of the color scanned valid residence card, issued by the relevant German authorities.

  6. With regard to the photograph requirements, the e-Visa website accepts only facial biometric color photograph which must NOT be older than 6 months from the date of submission of the application. In the biometric photograph, the hair must not block the face area; and sunglasses or eyeglasses with optical frames are NOT permitted. The applicants may wear rimless eyeglasses. The photograph must be properly cropped with no photo edges displayed, and uploaded with adequate resolution into the e-Visa account. For samples of acceptable biometric photographs, please visit https://thaievisa.go.th/static/media/sample-photo.0b0a9aea.pdf.

  7. Please exercise caution when filling in information such as first name, middle name, last name, date of birth, passport number, and other passport details. The mentioned information must match the data on the passport. The passport number on a German passport appears on the upper right. Please take care that the “O” (letter O) is not mistaken for “0” (zero). In addition, the first name, middle name, and last name are often incorrectly presented or switched on the application.

  8. In the case that first name, and/or middle name, and/or last name contain “-” (the hyphen), the “-“ must also be filled in. For example, for the full name “Anna-Lena Meier-Lehmann“, “Anna-Lena“ must appear on first name space; and “Meier-Lehmann” must be filled in last name space.

  9. Please carefully upload all documents into the e-Visa account as the documents must show required information, especially full names, dates, etc. The information presented must be clearly visible. For example, the e-Visa system do not accept flight bookings and financial proof that do not show the applicants’ names, and the screenshots or Print Screen formats of financial statements, flight bookings, and hotel bookings are NOT accepted.

  10. For applicants under 18 years old, a color scanned birth certificate of the applicant must also be submitted. If the applicant’s parents do not apply for the e-visa at the same time as the applicant, a consent form, signed by both parents, along with bio-data pages of parents‘ passports must also be uploaded. In the case that one of the parents applies for the e-Visa with the applicant, a consent form signed by the other parent along with his/her bio-data page of passport must be submitted.

  11. After the successful payment of the e-Visa fee, all information filled in the application form cannot be changed or edited. Should the applicant find any misinformation or misspelling, the applicant must proceed with a complete new e-Visa application together with a new e-Visa fee payment.

  12. After submission of e-Visa application, the application will be processed in chronological order determined by the time of visa fee payment – first come, first served basis. The decision will be made within 15 working days. In the case that the Consulate requests additional document(s) through the e-Visa system, the processing time will be extended another 15 working days from the date that the Consulate receives ALL requested additional document(s) which must also match the Consulate’s requirements.

  13. It is necessary for the visa applicants to be present in Germany for the submission of e-Visa application and its fee payment. In some cases, the Consulate may invite the applicant to the Embassy for an in-person interview; therefore, the applicant is strongly advised to remain in Germany until the decision is madeIn addition, a valid e-Visa that suits the purpose of the intended visit must be obtained BEFORE entering Thailand. Please also note that the applicant who is resident in another country/territory other than Germany must submit a visa application to the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate-General that has jurisdiction over the area in which the applicant is physically present.

  14. After the successful submission of e-Visa application, the applicant may inquire about the status of the application via email ONLY. In such case, the applicant could send his/her full names, passport number, and Reference No. to visa.[email protected] by using the applicant’s email that was used to create his/her e-Visa application account*The Consulate shall NOT give any information on the status of the visa application by telephone.*
